Enable vision believes that there are five underlying reasons for why people do not have access to suitable eyeglasses- awareness, access, affordability, attractiveness, and inability to provide an accurate prescription. Taking these factors into account, they have introduced their new self-adjustable glasses. Designed especially for young people aged between 12-18, the glasses are mass-produced in a variety of colours, keeping costs down without compromising aesthetics, and to withstand rough use in challenging circumstances anywhere in the world.
How do they work? It’s as simple as getting a basic screening test, adjusting the lens to suit, sealing the lens, and removing the adjusters.
Simply making the glasses is not enough; they also have to get to young people who need them. As self-refraction does not require highly trained optometric professionals, enable vision aims to distribute these glasses through innovative classroom-based programs, with the adjustment process supervised by teachers.
